Black on Black is a visual representation of Eugene Thacker's findings and theories of how we perceive and experience black.
Handcrafted to demonstrate black in all its forms this book explores the battle between light and darkness. Its corduroy cover highlights the idea that black is not bound to one element. Upon unzipping the reader's perceptions of black are automatically challenged as light trapped within the book is released.
"Should we consider black a colour, the absence of colour, or a suspension of vision produced by a deprivation of light?"
Other than those in Thacker's article the photos and designs on display are original pieces. The images explore how the contrasting elements of light and darkness are codependent in the formulation visual experiences. Without light there would be nothing to see.
